Me and my wife traveld all over Portugal. But you would have to go as long way to find better service than here. Plus very quite and relaxing. Thanks to Christine and her staff.

My partner, Karen, and I booked a late deal and knew little other than what I had read on TripAdvisor. I saw some of the other reviews and, being the sceptical type, thought "yeah well they might say all that but does it just seem good by comparison to past experiences in bad accommodation?"
I was more than happy to say that despite my tendency to pick fault, as hard as I tried, there simply was not any to store to memory. The two bedrooms, a twin and a double, both had clean en-suite bathrooms, the beds were comfy, there was plenty of storage space, the kitchen was equipped with microwave, full gas cooker, freezer, fridge, plenty of plates & utensils etc. The TV had all BBC channels to keep up with the news back home and the balcony was also well kept.
Outside, even though it did not look like it was really necessary, the finishing touches were being made to a fresh coat of paint to give that really fresh new feel to the place. The pool and surrounding area was as clean as you like and opened between 9am and 7.30pm, so no chance of being greeted by a spread of early riser's towels.
Christine, the receptionist, was as helpful as you like; she provided the best of advice when asked and helped with everything else when you didn't. I can only assume that she has shares in the place.
The beach was close (about a 3 minute stroll down a gentle decline) and was a fantastic sight. There was a great walk along the rocks (for the sure footed) which offered some of the best beach views I have seen. If you don't like the sound of that, just spend a romantic evening on the beach with a nice bottle of wine.
There are may restaurants close by; the popular "strip" of bars and restaurants is a 15 minute walk away in one direction, the old fishing town is a 4-5 Euro taxi ride in the other.
What more does a "grumpy" have to say to convince you to give this a go?

We visited Elma Apartments at the end of September 04 and my husband, 6 month old daughter and I had a fantastic time! the apartments are spacious and kept very clean and the facilities are fantastic for self catering - microwave , large fridge freezer, toaster, kettle etc and everything was like new. The television even had CBeebies to keep our daughter occupied as well as BBC1. Location was great - it was quiet at night but only a short walk into the old town or the strip. Cristina , the receptionist, was fantastic and was a great mind of information on Portugal. I would also definately recommend the zoomarine for a great full day out. All in all a fantastic holiday and we are booking again for summer 2005.

I have been on holiday to the Algarve a few times but have found the perfect spot at Elma Apartments. The receptionist (Christina) was very friendly and helpful and made the stay that much more enjoyable. Situated in a quiet spot 10 mins walk from the noise of Montechoro Strip and 20 mins from the old town of Albuferia it boasts a nice swimming pool and comfortable no frills accomodation. We had a wonderful week there and have booked again to go in 2005.

Firstly I have to say the receptionist Christina, was very helpful, friendly and provided an A1 service.
I did read a previous report on this web site and expected more than I actually got from Elma Apartments.
We were spoilt on 2 previous visits to the algarve, please see my report on Quinta das figueirinhas.
Accommodation:- It was fairly basic, as stated in the afore mentioned report I read. I was impressed, however, by the fact that both bedrooms had en-suite.
We did find that it was not the cleanest place we'd stayed in and there was a rather obnoxious smell in the main bedroom en-suite that we could not get rid of, it may have been due to the mildew around the bath. Christina suggested that the previous occupants may have not run enough water through the drainage system and even offered to do this while we were out if it would help. We tried running water, disinfectant and air freshener but nothing worked. I must add that we were on the top floor which may have added to the problem.
As for the rest of the accomodation, it was acceptable.
The view from our apartment was straight at the apartment block 40 feet away. To our exteme left you could see the edge of the pool. We were in Block E, if you stayed in block A or B the view may have been more pleasant.
Facilities:- The pool was ok, though I don't think it was big enough for the number of people. The pool side bar was excellent and run by a very friendly couple.
There was plenty of drinking/eating places with in short walking distance of the complex.
The beach was only 5 min walk away and never to busy.
It was a very pleasant walk along the beach to or from Albufeira and equally The Strip was only 15 min walk away.
Summary:- Was it a quiet family location? I would suggest not. Though not in the centre of town, it was still in a town and that means you get the usual town noises, dust cart at 9am most mornings doing their rounds, dogs barking until 2am most mornings across the street and people looking in from adjacent block at all times of day.
Finally:- Would we go back? Most definitely not. The staff there were excellent but! the place left a lot to be desired. It is fairly old and well used so could do with some serious refurbishment, but! of course this is Block E Apartment 304 that my report is based on.
